An all-new episode of me and Daniel Dockery’s pop-music podcast, The Forty Ounce! Topics this time include the Men In Black 3 theme song, the QUITE INAPPROPRIATELY TITLED “Best Song Ever”, and the new Justin Timberlake-influenced song by the J-Biebz himself.

Uh, we also talk for a long time about abusive relationships in this episode. We decided to talk about the horrendous and uncomfortable “Birthday Cake (Remix)” by Rihanna and Chris Brown, and as I found out while recording this episode, it is impossible to discuss that song outside the context of Chris Brown viciously beating Rihanna. I mean, unless you’re an idiot who for some reason thinks that it’s okay for Chris Brown and Rihanna to be on a song together. But you’re not an idiot, are you?

Special guest Derek Huss joins me and Daniel on Episode 5 of The Forty Ounce! In this episode, we viciously attack Dave Grohl’s Grammy acceptance speech and introduce Derek to three songs that fall far outside of his normal musical interest.

I should probably mention that this episode kind of goes off the rails towards the end, when Daniel makes an off-handed reference to date rape and I immediately start freaking out about it. As you will here, I was really thinking about cutting it out, but since it’s one of the more interesting moments we’ve had so far on the show, I think it needed to stay in.

This is our longest episode yet, mostly because we added a third person. I think Derek’s inclusion really livens things up, but it did make things run a little longer than I’d prefer.

I feel like I’m starting to improve as a podcast host, even if I do still mumble and speak too fast half the time.

This time on The Forty Ounce: Hate! Glorious hate! Let the hate flow through you!

Me and Daniel decided it might be fun to do an episode where we exclusively discuss songs we hate. Daniel pointed out that the podcast usually dissolves into a hate-fest anyway, so we decided to just skip straight to the good stuff.

This is our longest podcast yet, which is… problematic. We’re really working on fixing that. In the meantime, can I suggest at least listening to the first ten or so minutes? I think my ability to speak clearly into the mic is improving, and me and Daniel have some fun banter before things descend into an orgy of rage.

In this episode: a podcast-length review of Pitbull’s album, Planet Pit! Devoting an entire podcast to Pitbull allows us to express our enthusiasm for him, but also our concerns with the fact that he is a rapper but doesn’t really enjoy rapping.

We ran into a problem with the site we were hosting on (they wanted me to pay more money, I didn’t want to pay more money) and now we are on a new site! So, that’s why it’s been a while since the last episode. We’re back! Hooray!
